Dovetail Words Support

Dovetail Words is a crossword puzzle without clues. Place every two-letter piece so every row and column becomes a real word.

How do I rotate a piece?

Tap a piece to turn it through its four possible arrangements. A two-letter piece can read forward or backward and can be placed across or down.

Can I move a piece after placing it?

Yes. Drag it to a different open position on the board. You can also drag it back to the tray and rotate it before trying again.

How do I know when part of the puzzle is correct?

Completed words light up as you solve them. The puzzle is finished when every row and column forms the intended word.

How do hints and stars work?

You can earn up to three stars for a puzzle. Using a hint places a piece for you and reduces the number of stars available for that puzzle. Solving without help earns the best result.

What is the Daily Puzzle?

Everyone receives the same puzzle for that date. You can play it once and build a daily streak over time.

What is a puzzle code?

A puzzle code lets another player open the same puzzle. The Paste button reads a copied code only when you tap it. The app does not monitor your clipboard.

Does the game work offline?

Yes. Puzzles, definitions, sound, statistics, history, and the tutorial all work offline.

How does iCloud backup work?

iCloud backup is optional and off by default. When enabled, it backs up your word collection, daily history, streaks, and selected lifetime and board statistics to your private iCloud account. It does not back up an active puzzle. Dovetail Words remains fully usable without it.

Why did my progress disappear after reinstalling?

Progress is stored on your device unless optional iCloud backup was enabled before the app was removed. Deleting the app can remove its local data.

How do I turn sound off?

Use the sound control on the home screen. Your choice is remembered the next time you open the app.
